Turning down Wedding invitations politely |

Turning down wedding invitationsWhatever your real reason is for not going to a friend or colleagues wedding then you often have to be tactful in your refusal. It is often said that you should always be honest and tell the truth. However you can't always get away with that if you have to stay friends with people. Good reasons for not attending a wedding
Obviously you can't know in advance whether you'll be sick, so its probably best to say you've got plans which unfortunately can't be changed. Some people think its best not to go into specifics about what you've got planned in the refusal rsvp but you might well get asked so you've got to be prepared to tell someone face to face. Something as simple as "I'm sorry I won't be able to come to your wedding" will suffice. Don't say you'll go and then don't! Thats just plain rude.
Obviously if its a family wedding you're turning down an invitation to it is much more sensible to claim work as a reason for not attending - although if they're having their wedding on a Saturday then you'd better normally work Saturdays for this one to work. You could claim some work conference or show that your attendance at is compulsory. Industry Exhibitions are a good way of phrasing it.
