Wedding Confetti
Ever wondered why we have confetti at weddings? All your confetti questions
answered
The word "confetti" derives from the same Italian word as
confectionery and was used to describe the sweetmeats - sugar-coated
grain and nuts - that were thrown over newly-weds. In more recent
years, the grains and nuts were replaced with rice or pieces of coloured
paper, more like flower petals than grains, which is reflected in
the tradition of throwing rose petals before the bride as she walks
down the aisle. This is meant to ward off evil spirits and grant fertility.
These
days, the perfect modern alternative to throwing rice is showering
the happy couple with confetti.
petal confetti
Taken fresh from the field and dried, our delphinium petals are ideal
for throwing over the happy couple and come in a variety of mixed
colours.
